Southcoates Officers are working closely with partner agencies in relation to a number of elderly males who are being targeted by individuals financially.
Issued 14 January 2025
Officers are supporting the males and their families. We are conducting regular welfare visits and providing them with prevention and safeguarding equipment to protect them. On top of this, where possible we are also looking at taking action against those responsible.
In February and March 2025, arrests were made of a number of potential suspects which has allowed us to safeguard vulnerable males who have been targeted. We continue to support a number of people within the area who are being targeted and we are helping to ensure those responsible do not get away with it.
If you believe a family member or a neighbour may be getting targeted in this way please report this to us immediately via our 101 system.

Southcoates and Drypool wards together have seen an increase in arsons to people's properties.
Issued 14 January 2025
A large number of enquiries have been and will be undertaken. This includes a wide range of house-to-house enquiries where we have engaged with victims and their neighbours as well as viewing any CCTV that is present. We have also attended with Humberside Fire and Rescue and ensure as many properties are safeguarded as possible.
In February and March 2025, a number of patch walks with multiple different agencies have been in the area. Plain clothes work has also taken place in order to attempt to identify and target anyone who may be responsible for this.
We have seen a decrease in the number of arsons over the past couple of months and believe that the work taken by officers would appear to have a successful impact on this.
