Drugs, violence and anti-social behaviour - Montrose Street
Issued 08 June 2026
Concerns were raised by residents regards drugs, violence and anti-social behaviour in the Montrose Street area. Research has been done by the team and several properties have been identified as potentially been involved. The team were successful in obtaining a closure notice at Hull Magistrates Court meaning a property has been closed, occupants removed and the property is boarded up. Efforts are ongoing to take possession of the property permanently by supporting the housing provider with their own legal processes meaning once our order has elapsed, the tenant cannot return. Initial action has been taken at other properties regards their contribution to the issue in the area and the addresses continue to be monitored.
There have been numerous arrests in relation to drug supply with a large quantity of class A drugs and cash being seized. 4 people remain on police bail whilst enquiries are ongoing, and one male is currently remanded in custody.
Tenancy warnings and civil action by Hull City Council has also been done at properties in the street over the past few weeks.
Calls to police about the area have reduced significantly, however we still continue to receive reports about a small number of properties. We are currently working with partners to look at evictions as well as any criminal prosecutions if possible.
