If you want to study for the role of police officer before applying, you can undertake a three-year degree in professional policing (at your own expense). Successful applicants will then start as an officer and undertake a shorter, predominately on-the-job training programme.
This programme is aimed at those who have an undergraduate degree in professional policing.
You will be employed as a police officer from day one and receive a starting salary of £21,420. The programme is based on the national curriculum for the police constable role.
Your probation period will be two years and at the end you will be signed off as a fully competent police officer.
If you have completed a professional policing degree or are currently in your final year of study Humberside Police is the ideal force for you to start your career as a police officer.
You will undergo a two-year training course, during which time you will complete mandatory training such as personal safety and first aid.
You will develop your core operational policing skills though a mixture of classroom and on the job learning. The initial learning phase of the course is held at Force Training Centre, Courtland Road, Hull. You will then be partnered with an experienced police officer who will be your dedicated coach.
Independent patrol status will also be achieved, enabling you to respond to incidents by yourself - but don’t worry as you will be continually supported throughout. It is anticipated that you will undertake around 13-weeks curriculum-based work.
