Humberside Police are pleased to host two DFN Supported Internships across Hull and East Riding and North East Lincolnshire area.
Humberside Police first collaborated with DFN Project SEARCH in 2022 to set up a programme on the North Bank, based primarily at Priory Road Headquarters, Hull. Due to the success of this programme, Humberside Police extended the programme to the South Bank, based in Grimsby, with additional placements offered within departments at North East Lincolnshire Council.
The DFN Supported Internship programme is led by a designated Course Manager and an on-site Employability Coach who supports interns with specialist job coaching whilst in their departments to help them learn new transferable skills and work-based tasks, alongside the Course Manager who delivers classroom-based curriculum.
A DFN Supported Internships is for young adults (aged between 18-24), who have an Education, Health and Care Plan and a learning disability, ADHD and/or autism. During the programme, selected interns will spend approximately 9 months within the business learning valuable employability skills and gaining experience to help them apply and gain full time employment.
The DFN Supported Internship programme requires interns to work during the academic year across 3 different departments, known as ‘rotations’ whilst on the programme. Rotations include: People Services, Legal Department, Criminal Justice Unit and Catering.
