FORCEWIDE
Our new force-wide proactive initiative, Operation Coastline, launched on Friday 24 May with the focus on engaging with our communities across the coastal region as they see an increase in seasonal visitors.
Grabbing your sun cream, sunhats and sunglasses? Gathering the pennies for the amusements? Looking for the best spot on the beach to set down for the day? So are offenders across the region.
With the warmer months just around the corner, our coastal and market towns will begin to see an influx of tourists to the area.
Officers across our local neighbourhood policing teams, the Rural Task Force and our Community Safety Unit will be involved in high visibility patrols and engaging with those across the area to ensure our communities are safe from crime.
Superintendent Paul Butler said: “From today, Operation Coastline has launched across the Humberside area to ensure our coastal and market towns remain safe from criminality that may be travelling into, and across, our force area throughout the warmer months.
“As the weather begins to get warmer and the nights become lighter, our coastal areas will begin to see a surge in visitors as part of local tourism, which can also result in an increase of criminality in the area.
“Members within our communities can expect to see an increased presence of officers across the area, out and about, patrolling hotspot locations and speaking to people to provide reassurance.
“In an effort to keep our communities safe and ensure that people, including families, can enjoy the coastal areas within our region, we will be targeting our resources effectively to disrupt criminal activity.
“We will also be working with partnership agencies throughout the week and focusing on youth engagement to tackle any antisocial behaviour in these areas.”
Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Evison said: “We are lucky enough to have a number of coastal towns in our area, but with these places comes an influx of visitors in peak periods often leading to an increase in criminality.
“By having an increased police presence in the hotspot areas, we can keep our residents and visitors safe and allow people to enjoy our coastal areas.”
We would always encourage you to report any offences to us so we can build the bigger picture and take action. We are committed as a force to targeting criminality across our area.
You can also report information anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or on their website www.crimestoppers.org.uk.

Friday 26 August - Bank Holiday weekend:
As we approach the last summer bank holiday and residents travel across the region to enjoy the stunning coastline and countryside on offer, Roads Policing Inspector John Rickells said: “As we head into the bank holiday weekend, we will be reminding all road users on how to drive responsibly on the roads and where necessary this will involve enforcement.
“Working alongside neighbouring forces we will be deploying both marked and unmarked police cars and motorcycles , fitted with speed detection and video recording equipment as well as.
“Our local area is a great place to ride a motorcycle. We have beautiful countryside as well as stunning coast lines, all of which make the perfect backdrop for a ride out.
“Whilst we want people to enjoy the roads and scenery in our area, this must be done responsibly. We will use enforcement to prosecute, as dangerous driving or riding is not acceptable.
“Sadly, at this time of the year we also see an increase in serious or fatal collisions involving motorcyclists. Our aim isn’t to spoil everyone’s enjoyment but to make sure everyone makes it home alive after a day out on the bike.
“I would urge drivers to be absolutely sure the road is clear before pulling out of a junction and for motorcyclists, please be careful during your journey!"

Lifestyle is one of our youth engagement projects where we ask young people aged 10-18 to register in teams and spend their summer holidays completing a project to benefit their community.
Two teams in particular have been working hard as part of #OpCoastline - the 😊 Happy Helpers and Ecoteers🌱
😊 The Happy Helpers have been clearing up a popular walk way in Barrow Upon Humber, cleaned up the park entrance, and done some litter picking in the area too. They said they are really enjoying volunteering and engaging with the local community.
🌱 The Ecoteers have been raising money and collecting food for the food banks, linking their project to nature, animals and insects - allowing them to get more food by doing litter picks in the area of Beverley to keep the market town cleaner for both people and nature.
🚲Chloe, Iylah and Phoebe also completed a charity bike ride in Cleethorpes to raise money for NICU.
Here are some pictures of them in action:
