NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE
In the early hours of this morning (Monday, 15 September 2025), officers were called to reports of a car on Brumby Common Lane, Scunthorpe leaving the road, and subsequently rolling into a large ditch, where it is believed to have landed upside-down. It is alleged that the car began to slowly fill with water leaving the driver and a passenger trapped inside.
Thanks to the caller’s co-operation and the calm professionalism of our call handler, the location of the incident was swiftly identified, allowing help to be sent without delay.
Within minutes of ascertaining the location of the vehicle, officers from our Scunthorpe patrol team attended the scene and the two people were rescued from the sinking vehicle.
Emergency services attended the scene, and the two people were cared for and their wellbeing checked. Thankfully, it is reported that both passengers left the scene with no injuries.
This outcome was made possible by the lifesaving teamwork from our officers and staff, from the calm and composed call taker to the fast-acting, life-saving response team who attended the scene, our officers remain unwavering in their duty of care, working together to protect and save lives.
