Appeal following serious assault in Hull city centre

Officers are appealing for information following a serious assault involving a knife on Carr Lane, Hull.

Leading the investigation Detective Inspector Ben Harmer said: “In the early hours of this morning (Sunday, 23 August) at around 4.30am we were called to reports of a man sustaining serious stab wounds in a commercial premises on Carr Lane.

“Emergency services attended the scene, and a 31-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries which are not thought to be life threatening, he remains at hospital receiving treatment in a stable condition

“Extensive enquiries remain ongoing including gathering CCTV footage from around the area and speaking to witnesses at the scene, a scene guard was put in place but this has since been lifted and the local community can expect an increased police presence whilst enquires remain ongoing.

“The investigation remains in the early stages, and work remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and identify anyone involved. At this time, I can confirm that we believe this to have been an incident between two men known to each other prior to the incident.

“I would appeal to anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage from around the area at the time of the report that may be able to assist with our enquiries to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 97 of 23 August 2026.
