They mentioned footage has now been published by media companies online and presumably released to them by police.

1, What caused this footage to be newly released now rather than any other time or before now?

2, Was it upon media Requests?

3, What policy governs this as well.

Humberside Police can confirm we do hold the information you requested.

1, Assets from the investigation into Robert Bush, including interview and arrest footage, were shared with the news media as part of the communications strategy to support the sentencing process.  These were shared with the media at this time, under embargo, to ensure they didn’t compromise the investigation nor the wider criminal justice process.

2, The assets that were made available to the media were carefully selected to ensure they were relevant to the narrative of the investigation, respectful to the families impacted by Robert Bush and appropriate to be viewed by the public.

3, All police forces work to the College of Policing’s Authorised Professional Practice – Media and Communications and the Crown Prosecution Service’s Media Protocol
