Request:

Please provide the following data for each day during the period of the 2026 World Cup, June 11 2026, to July 19 2026, inclusive:

Daily Totals by Location: The total number of recorded domestic abuse incidents/crimes on each calendar day within the specified period, broken down by Community Safety Partnership (CSP) area (or Local Authority / Policing District if CSP is not readily available).

Force-Wide Daily Totals: If providing the daily breakdown by CSP/district would exceed the cost limit under Section 12 of the FOI Act, please provide the force-wide total for each individual calendar day within the period instead.

Please include all recorded domestic abuse incidents/crimes logged on those dates, regardless of whether "football," "World Cup," or a specific match was recorded as an aggravating or contributing factor.

If your force separately tracks or flags incidents specifically linked to football/match days, please provide that secondary count alongside the daily totals, if possible, within the cost limit.

Response:

Section 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) places two duties on public authorities. Unless exemptions apply, the first duty at Section 1(1)(a) is to confirm or deny whether the information specified in a request is held.  The second duty at Section 1(1)(b) is to disclose information that has been confirmed as being held.  Where exemptions are relied upon Section 17 of FOIA requires that we provide the applicant with a notice which: a) states that fact b) specifies the exemption(s) in question and c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.

Humberside Police can confirm we do hold the information you requested. However, it has been determined to provide the information requested, broken down by location would produce very low numbers. Owing to the small number of results it may identify a living individual. Disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act is deemed to be released to the public at large. Therefore, no information if deemed would identify a living individual would be released.  Therefore section 40(2) of the Act is engaged.  As section 40(2) is an absolute exemption there is no requirement for me to conduct a public interest test. However I am satisfied that disclosure would breach the 1st principle of the Data Protection Act – fair and lawful processing.

Therefore, please see below figures for Force level data. This is broken down into separate tables for ‘Domestic Abuse Incidents’ and ‘Domestic Abuse Crime’.

Please note that police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide information and statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force’s response to your questions should not be used for the comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
