Firearms licensing service update

Our Firearms Licensing Unit (FLU) is currently dealing with a significant backlog of applications and renewals. The current timescales for new and renewed certificates are longer than we'd like. But we're working hard to reduce the amount of time that applicants have to wait.

If you've submitted an application, the team will be in touch as soon as possible. Please don't contact the FLU to ask about the progress of your application as these enquiries only slow down the work of the team.

Whilst the FLU is prioritising reducing the backlog, they aren't able to take general enquiries by telephone or email about the firearms licensing process. However, you can find all information about applications, renewals and variations in our firearms guidance.
