Warning over bogus charity collectors in Grimsby

North East Lincolnshire

10 Jan 2019

We have received reports of suspected bogus charity workers in Grimsby who have been knocking on doors claiming to be collecting money for the local hospital.

The reports have centered around the Park Street and Tunnard Street areas, but we want all residents living in the town to be vigilant.

The individuals ask for 50p in return for a 'gift box', claiming that any money donated will go towards helping a local baby unit.

We want anyone who might have their suspicions about people who ask for money in this way to call us.

You can also contact the charitable organisation themselves who the people say they represent. If the worker is genuine then that will be confirmed by the charity.

Don't fall foul of doorstep scams. If in doubt please check first before handing over any amount of money.
