Man allegedly assaulted and robbed by taxi driver in Hessle

East Riding of Yorkshire

27 Feb 2019

We are investigating a report that a man was allegedly assaulted by a taxi driver in Hessle in the early hours of Friday 22 February.

We received a call around 6.15am that the victim had been picked up on Anlaby Road and stopped off on Mount Avenue near to his home.

The man got out of the vehicle to go and get some money. While doing so he claimed the driver got out of his cab, followed him and pushed him before stealing his phone as payment.

He has also reported that in trying to get his phone back, the driver pulled away and the man fell and injured his hands which got trapped under the car's wheels.

The driver has been described as male, white, in his early 40s, quite short with grey hair. The vehicle was a small saloon type car, possibly a Volvo.
