A 24-year-old man has sustained serious injuries to his face following an alleged assault in a pub car park in Howden.

The incident happened outside the Howden Arms on Market Place around midnight on Saturday 29 December.

The victim had left the pub when he was struck from behind which knocked him unconscious. He fell to the floor which has resulted in serious injuries to his face which will require surgery.

The victim didn’t see the person who assaulted him and hasn’t been able to provide a description.

Detective Constable Russ Colven from Goole CID said: “The victim in this case has not only suffered serious physical injuries, but psychological ones as well following this unprovoked attack.

“I want to find the person responsible for this cowardly assault as I do not want them to think that their behaviour will go unpunished.

“As we all know, just one punch can lead to serious life changing injuries and worse, and I want to make sure that incidents like this do not happen again.”
