Newington and Gipsyville
Welcome to the Newington and Gypsyville neighbourhood policing team
We begin 2021 with a sense of renewed optimism looking forward to the year ahead and the opportunities it may present. We remain very aware of the impact that the current Covid-19 public health emergency is placing on individuals, families and our communities as a whole across the Newington and Gipsyville Ward. With the ever changing situation, we remain resolute in our commitment, effort and energy, continuing to plan and work with community groups and our partners across the Public Sector, to reduce the impact of Covid-19 on our local communities and to keep you all safe.
In the Newington and Gipsyville ward the vast majority of you have been doing what’s right for a long time, following the government guidelines to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus and keeping one another safe. We continue to use the 4E’s approach to policing Covid-19; engage, explain, encourage and finally enforce the regulations where applicable. You may have seen on our social media channels and in the local media that in recent weeks we have seen an increase in house parties and larger gatherings. Where there have been clear breaches of the regulations we have taken proportionate and necessary action, issuing appropriate fines to individuals. As vaccination roll out continues across health care settings in (area/s) you will see your local officers in attendance, providing reassurance around key vaccination sites.
Regardless of Covid 19, our policing focus remains to protect the most vulnerable, keep people safe and to respond to serious crime. Our neighbourhood policing activity will continue to be focused on maintaining our core operational duties and delivering our Neighbourhood Policing Strategy. The provision of highly visible and locally connected neighbourhood policing teams remain the foundation of our force operating model.

Environmental issues on The Shires Work is continuing on The Shires to improve the area. Absolutely Cultured has been painted the mural on the wall at the end of the streets. |
ASB and Criminal Damage on The Shires We have been sucessful at Court in getting a Full Closure Order for an address on Dorset Street. This should significantly reduce the ASB on the street. We continue to patrol the area for further issues. Each report is investigated and we are working with Hull City Council to put target hardening measures in place. We are also working alongside landlords to manage anti-social behaviour emerging from certain properties. |
ASB in West Park New lighting is still going ahead. The council are just waiting to give the go ahead to fund the project and put the lighting in. CCTV is still planned and plans will progress once the Covid-19 pandemic has subsided. There are no youth workers on the park at the moment but this will recommence as soon as possible. |
Anlaby Road street drinkers Work continues around the drinkers although there has been a big decrease in the numbers of people reporting anti-social behaviour. We still continue to deal with the drinkers and have been helping those that are homeless. |
