Woman injured during Tour De Yorkshire

Beverley: Can you identify the rider of a mobility scooter?

5 May 2015

Police are appealing for help to identify a rider of a mobility scooter who is alleged to have ridden their scooter into a 79-year-old woman causing her to fall to the ground at the junction of Champney Road and Lairgate in Beverley.

The victim received minor injuries to her hands and feet following the incident, which occurred at 12.30pm on Saturday May 2 as crowds gathered to watch the Tour de Yorkshire.

Detective Constable Andrew Chapman of Beverley Police station: “It was a busy time with lots of people on the streets.  I believe other members of the public did try to call the scooter rider to ask them to stop without success.  I would appeal to the rider to contact the police at the earliest opportunity and if anyone witnessed the incident they should call us too.”

Anyone who can help with police enquiries should contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting Crime Reference 2111338.
