From Monday we’re changing the opening hours of some of our community stations’ front counters to make it easier for you to come and speak to us.
The changes follow a public consultation, during which we looked at when the facilities were used most and when you told us you would prefer to be able to visit your local station.
As a result, we have altered the opening times at many of our community stations to make them more accessible outside most people’s working hours.
Assistant Chief Constable, Scott Young explained: “Different communities have different needs. “Having consulted with the public and taken feedback on the level of service they require, we will be changing the way we operate our front counters.
“In some of our busier locations we will be extending the opening hours.
“Where we currently have few or no members of the public using the front counter at their local police station, we will be either reducing or relocating that facility.
“Overall we will be offering the public more options to access our services and providing a more consistent set of opening hours.
“Many of our services are now available on line, which reduces the need for people to attend stations in person but we know that some people prefer to see someone face-to-face and these changes are designed to make doing so as easy as possible.”
The only station where the front counter facility will be closed is at our Priory Road headquarters, becoming a reception area for visitors.
ACC Young added: “Having a reception area is more befitting of a headquarters and will allow us to give visitors a better experience.”
A full list of the opening hours and details of the changes will be available on our website from Monday.
