As the countdown to Christmas continues, officers and staff at Humberside Police are working hard to ensure help is on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week even over the holidays. Unlike many organisations, the police do not shut down for Christmas.
Throughout December, Operation Yuletide officers and staff across the organisation have been working hard to make your Christmas safe.
This year Op Yuletide has seen us concentrate on key issues which we know increase during the Christmas period. From keeping you safe whilst you’re shopping to making sure that your night out is remembered for all the right reasons, our officers and staff have been working hard to help you enjoy Christmas safely.
While we want everyone to have a good time, there are things you can do to keep yourself and others safe while enjoying the festivities. As we head into this weekend of festive celebrations, make sure you look after yourself and your loved ones. Pace yourself and don’t be a fool, book a taxi before you go out and think about the morning after, even then you might not be safe to drive. Don’t be caught out.
Chief Superintendent Phil Ward said: “Our teams do a great job and are committed to keeping our communities safe while many others are celebrating the festivities with family and friends.
“While we are here, ready to take your call should you need us, I urge everyone to keep safe, look after yourself and those around you. Let’s end the year with good memories and head into 2018, remembering Christmas for all the right reasons.”
You can help us make sure that it’s a good Christmas for all: keep yourself and your friends safe while you’re out; don’t tempt the prying eyes of thieves, keep presents out of view and don’t pile up packaging after the big day so thieves know what new items you’ve got; and remember, you don’t have to feel drunk to be a drink driver.
