ASSISTANT CHIEF OFFICER (RESOURCES)

We are looking for an Assistant Chief Officer to be a part of our new Chief Officer team who will lead and inspire the workforce, provide strategic leadership, have a performance management focus and be a role model for staff regarding diversity and equality. You will inspire creativity in your staff, have a track record of innovation, embrace new ideas and help us continue to develop a culture where our communities and staff feel valued, listened to and empowered.

Reporting directly to the Chief Constable, you will drive the strategic direction of the Force as a key member of the Chief Officer Group, promoting our values and behaviours in line with police service expectations, championing organisational change, delivering improved results and increasing efficiency.

The responsibilities of the Assistant Chief Officer (Resources) are extensive and you will lead critical enabling services including Finance and Business Support, HR & Training, IT and Estates functions. Some functions are collaborative with partner organisations. You will chair several key strategic boards and be the senior responsible officer for the delivery of significant and complex projects.

Legal Practice Manager

We are seeking a Legal Practice Manager to support the Force Solicitor in the provision of a comprehensive legal service to the Chief Constable.  This is a crucial role within the collaborative function of Legal Services for South Yorkshire Police and Humberside Police.   

This role will provide support across both sites of Legal Services and the successful candidate will need to split their time across the collaborative function working in South Yorkshire approximately 3 days a week and in Humberside for approximately 2 days a week flexibly, dependent on business requirements.

Senior Legal Officer

We are seeking a Senior Legal Officer to provide legal service and to represent the Chief Constable at court hearings, in addition to providing a range of legal advice to officers and support staff.

You will be responsible for the provision of accurate and efficient legal advice to the Chief Constable and all officer and support staff and the effective representation of the interests of the Force at court, committees and tribunals.

Litigation Lawyer

An exciting litigation opportunity has presented itself for a civil Litigation Solicitor within our legal team.  We are looking for a suitably qualified solicitor who has a detailed knowledge of civil law and practice.

You will work as part of a team providing a comprehensive range of legal advice and representation to the Chief Constable but in the main you will deal with civil claims for Malfeasance and Personal Injury.

Employer Lawyer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in house within our legal team.  We are looking for a suitably qualified solicitor who has particular experience of Employment Law.

You will work as part of a team providing a comprehensive range of legal advice and representation to the Chief Constable but in the main you will deal with contentious and non contentious matters across the full spectrum of employment law.  You will also have the opportunity to become involved in other areas within the legal department.
