13 Oct 2016

Officers investigating an attempted robbery and a burglary at two Grimsby branches of McDonalds have made a fresh appeal for witnesses.

It is believed the incidents at the restaurants in Birchin Way and Laceby in the early hours of Thursday, September 8, may be linked.

And today officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The first incident happened at shortly before 4.30am, when a man went to the drive through of the Birchin Way restaurant and attempted to steal the till.

It is alleged that the offender used a knife, causing an injury to the hand of a member of staff which required hospital treatment.

The suspect wore dark clothing and a hooded top with the hood up. He made off on foot and the alarm was raised.

At around 5.15am, staff at the Laceby branch of McDonalds reported a burglary had happened sometime in the early hours of the morning.

The offender(s) had broken into the restaurant whilst it was closed and made an unsuccessful attempt to access the safe.

Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to contact 101, quoting crime reference numbers 2213011 and 2213132 respectively.
