Key Information

There are plenty of opportunities for you to meet your local officers and talk to them about problems you're worried about. You can pop along to Police Surgeries, which are informal drop-in sessions at well visited places in the community. It's a chance to meet your local officers, tell them about crime and antisocial behaviour in your area and get crime prevention advice.

You can also have a say in what your local police and other agencies focus on in your area at Priority Setting Meetings. Any member of the community can go along and talk to local officers and PCSO's, council workers and people from Fire and Rescue about issues you face. What you say at these meetings will help the policing teams decide how they should focus their resources in your area. If you think we're getting it right or wrong at the moment, come along and have your say.

Neighbourhood Watch – We had a successful street surgery in the Trinity Road / Whimbrel Avenue area in November.  We spoke to residents about their concerns and what improvements could be made. Working jointly with ERYC Housing and the Anti-Social behaviour team we wanted to gauge people’s interest in setting up Neighbourhood Watch groups so information can be shared more efficiently between agencies and address emerging issues sooner. We will be conducting further street surgeries in 2019 throughout the town and villages. We are looking for people who are interested in joining / co-ordinating a Neighbourhood Watch group to work with and be supported by the local Policing team and ERYC.

On a few occasions recently we have been asked by members of the public about what were termed “No drink zones” now called Alcohol prohibition zones” and where the public should and should not be seen drinking alcohol in the town. We are currently in negotiation with ERYC about these areas. We are looking to retain existing ones and possibly request a new one due to concerns raised by local residents.
