Stay Safe Over Summer - week three: Young people urged to avoid dangerous situations

The thought of six long weeks with no school may sound idyllic – but with time on your hands, doing the same old things every day can soon become boring.

However, as part of our Stay Safe Over Summer campaign, Humberside Police are urging young people to think twice before putting themselves in danger in pursuit of a bit of excitement.

Force truly saddened by death of popular officer

Tributes have been paid to Pc Darren Martin, who sadly died on Wednesday whilst off duty.

Chf Supt Ind Judi Heaton said: "We are truly saddened by the death of PC Martin.

"He was a very popular officer within Humberside who achieved a great deal during his nine year career working in a variety of roles.

Police response after sentencing of those involved

The sentencing of Katie ROSE, Daniel LONDESBOROUGH and Anthony WHITE took place today (Friday 7th August) at Hull Crown Court following their involvement in an incident which happened during the early hours of Wednesday 27 August 2014 on Sewerby Road in Bridlington resulting in the death of Graham WHITE and another man, Andrew LONDESBOROUGH, suffering serious injuries.

Police appeal for witnesses to an assault on Promenade Villas / Esplanade in Hornsea.

Officers investigating the assault of two Hornsea men (aged 52 and 29) as they walked home from the Floral Hall at approximately 3am on Sunday August 2 are asking for any witnesses to come forward to help with their enquiries.

Cleethorpes: Can you help trace suspect?

An elderly Cleethorpes man was conned out of £220 and had further cash and bank books stolen in a suspected distraction burglary.

The incident happened in Dugard Road, Cleethorpes, at around noon on Wednesday, August 5.

A man driving a white Transit-style van and wearing blue and white overalls came to the door and offered to clear out the guttering.

Casualty reduction officer Simon Carlisle, “The enforcement day is necessary to not only enforce the law but to also educate drivers on how to keep all passengers in their car safe and how to protect them if they are involved in a collision.

Family's request for privacy

The family of Jessica Lawson, who sadly died whilst on a school trip to France, have confirmed that Jessica has been repatriated home.

The family wish to  thank friends and the wider public for the support they have received during this difficult time, but request that their wishes for the details of Jessica’s funeral arrangements not to be made public are respected.

Scunthorpe: Did you see assault?

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw a man assaulting a woman in Scunthorpe’s Warwick Road.
The incident happened at around 5.25pm on Monday, August 3, when the victim was said to be attacked near to the alleyway by a man known to her. The man is also said to have stolen her mobile phone.
