Being You Is Not A Crime

Being you is not a crime – targeting you is.

That is the latest message from Humberside Police, as part of a continued drive to reach out to victims of hate crime.

The level of reported hate crime is falling across the force area – with 1,441 crimes or non-criminal incidents recorded between January 2014 and March 2015.

Grimsby: local man faces two charges

Detectives investigating a disturbance in Churchill Way in Grimsby yesterday (Friday October 9), which resulted in the death of one man and serious injury to another, have charged a man.

Michael David Preston (19), of Durban Road in Grimsby, has this afternoon been charged with the murder of Dean Southwick (29) and the attempt murder of an 18-year-old Grimsby man.

Grimsby: Investigation continues

The man killed in an incident in Grimsby earlier today has been formally identified this evening as Dean Southwick.

His mother Lisa Briggs and her partner Trevor Day, have tonight urged the local community to leave the investigation to the police and not to take matters into their own hands.

Hessle: Specialist cycles stolen in garage break in

Two specialist bikes were stolen from a garage in Boothferry Road, Hessle.

The break in happened between 11pm on Thursday, October 8 and 6am the following day.

A red and black Fuji D6 triathlon bike and blue and white Fuji Team, Carbon Pro, carbon road bike were stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference number 2143450 of October 8.

Scunthorpe: appeal for further witnesses

Officers investigating an incident in Scunthorpe Town Centre on Wednesday have made a further appeal for witnesses.
Five men from the Hull area were arrested in connection with an incident in Frodingham Road at around 1.25pm on Wednesday, October 7, and have since been released on police bail,

Grimsby: Appeal for witnesses

A man has died and a second remains in a serious but stable condition following an incident in Grimsby.

Police were called at around 2.40am today (Friday, October 9) following reports of a disturbance in the Churchill way area.

On attending, it was found two men had been seriously assaulted and were being treated by ambulance crews.

Messingham Fields: Can you help identify man responsible?

Can you help to identify a man who attempted to rape a woman as she walked her dog in Scunthorpe on Tuesday?
Officers were called at 7pm on Tuesday, October 6, following reports a woman had been attacked on Messingham Fields, off Holme Lane.
She fought back and was able to get away.
He was described wearing dark coloured clothing and a black hooded jacket.

Magdelana (27) was last seen around 1pm last Wednesday (30 September) leaving her family’s home in Cookson Street, Doncaster, where she said she was going to the town centre.

Hull: Woman stole more than £7.5k from elderly victim

A woman who stole more than £7,500 from her former partner’s elderly mother will be sentenced at Hull Crown Court on Monday October 26.

Jemma Ramsden, 30, of Hilston, Hull, admitted setting up telephone banking in her 80-year-old victim’s name – without her knowledge – and transferring money out of her account between February and October 2014.
