Woman mugged in Ridge Walk

Scunthorpe: Officers launch appeal for information

25 Aug 2015

A woman was mugged by a man as she walked along Scunthorpe’s Ridge Walk in the early hours of Monday morning.
The victim, a 55-year-old local woman, had gone onto the path at Browning Close and was opposite the bridge when the robbery happened at around 12.20am on August 24.
She said a man had crept up behind her and engaged her in conversation after she told him he had startled her.
He then suddenly pushed her to the floor, causing her minor injuries to her wrist and elbow, before snatching her handbag, which contained her purse, some jewellery, cosmetics and perfume.
The thief then ran off in the direction of Byron Close.
The suspect is described as white, with a pale complexion, clean shaven, aged 24 to 25, tall and slim, with a local accent.
He wore a light grey tracksuit with the hood up.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log number 18 of August 24.
