Woman assaulted in attempted robbery

Withernsea: Appeal for witnesses as 78-year-old woman is a victim of attempted robbery and assault.

Police are investigating the attempted robbery and assault which took place taken place at around 1145pm yesterday May 26 as she walked home.

The attack happened at the rear of Kirkfield flats on Kirkfield Road.  The woman had walked along Princess Avenue, along Queens Street and through the snicket to Kirkfield Road.

A man pushed the woman to the floor and tried to take her bag, the woman tried to defend herself from attack and suffered facial injuries and bruising to her hands.

Investigating Officers are wanting to speak to a man described as 5ft 3” tall of slim build with short light blond hair.  He was wearing a burgundy jacket, black trousers and white shoes.
