Wanted man sentenced thanks to own social media post

23 Apr 2019

A man wanted on warrant for failing to appear in court has been arrested and sentenced as a direct result of a social media post.

Brett Painter, 25, formally of Hessle Road was due to appear at Hull Magistrates Court in connection with an assault.

He was traced to Leeds in West Yorkshire and arrested just before the weekend.

He had been posting on social media on his own wanted appeal which helped us to find him.

He’s now been sentenced to a 12 month Community Order and must complete 120 hours of unpaid work. He must also pay £300 in costs and was instructed to pay £75 compensation.
