A Grimsby teenager has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a moped and driving under the influence of drugs.
The 17-year-old was arrested after two boys were spotted riding a black Honda moped in Park Drive by officers in an unmarked police car at around 3.10am on Sunday. October 7.
Sergeant Lorraine Paterson said: “After spotting them riding the bike without helmets, our officers pulled up next to them in the car. The boys panicked, dropped the bike and ran off.”
A 17-year-old, suspected of being the driver of the bike, was arrested a short time later and the bike – which had earlier been reported stolen from an address in Scartho – was recovered.
The boy has since been released pending further investigation and we’re appealing for help in tracing the passenger.
Sgt Paterson said: “The passenger was white, around 16-years-old, 5ft 6in tall and clean shaven, with dark hair.
“He was wearing a light grey tracksuit with the hood up and was last seen in the Cumberland Avenue area.”
