Elderly residents have been warned to be on their guard after a man claiming to be a window cleaner was stopped trying to get into a home in Grimsby’s Peppercorn Walk.

The incident happened at 12.52pm on Thursday June 4, when a relative of the elderly occupant arrived to see the man opening the insecure front door and stepping over the threshold.

The woman challenged him and he claimed to be a window cleaner, before leaving in the direction of Doughty Road, where he was seen to meet up with a second man.

Nothing was stolen.

The first suspect is described as being around 30 years old, white, 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build with a sallow complexion. He had short, mousey hair and tattoos on his neck. He wore navy blue Adidas jogging bottoms, a black zip-up jacket and black trainers.

The second man was said to be white, around 30 years old, 5ft 6ins tall, with medium length mousey hair and medium build. He wore jeans and a grey jacket.
