Following a police operation in the early hours of this morning four people have been arrested on suspicion of criminal offences.
We served warrants at seven properties on the River View site following specific information indicating criminal individuals were committing crime.
Three men (aged 42, 29 and 21) and a woman (age 49) have been arrested. Two men (aged 42 and 21) have been arrested on suspicion of the cultivation and supply of drugs, the other man (29) has been arrested on suspicion of modern day slavery. The woman has been arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
A number of items have been seized which will be sent for analysis and forensic testing.
We also executed a warrant at a storage unit on Santon Business Park this afternoon. Several items of property was also seized from this address.
Superintendent Dave Hall, leading the operation from the command hub at Clough Road Police station said, “We have made some significant discoveries today as part of this multi-agency operation.
“I would like to praise and thank the community of the River View site for their understanding and courtesy during today’s operation. This has been a disruptive day for them, they have been very helpful and understand the need for us to target criminality.
“Today’s operation is a very visible statement of our intent to protect people from criminality and exploitation which has no place in today’s society.
“We are looking into the large amount of property which has been seized today and will now look to identify who the rightful owners are.”
