The driver of a black BMW - who fled the scene after colliding with a telegraph pole, leaving two passengers with serious injuries - is being sought by police.

The incident happened at around 5.45am today (Sunday, October 16) at the junction of Clee Road and Humberston Road, Grimsby.

The driver of the BMW 335 saloon left the vehicle, which came to rest on the driveway of a Humberston Road property. Humberside Fire and Rescue Service crews had to free the passengers.

A 21-year-old Manchester man, who had been travelling in the front seat, is being treated for life threatening injuries at Hull Royal Infirmary.

A 24-year-old Grimsby man, travelling in the rear of the car, is being treated for leg injuries at Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital. He was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and bailed, pending further enquiries.
