Man pleads guilty to murder of Vera Hudson

A 25–year-old man has today pleaded guilty to the murder of 57 year-old Vera Hudson at his home in Hull on Thursday 19 September 2019.

Mark Jewitt, of Constable Street, Hull appeared via video link at Grimsby Crown Court today (Thursday 27 February 2020) and pleaded guilty to the murder. 

Officers were called to Constable Street shortly after 7.30am on Thursday 19 September 2019.  The body of a woman was found at the address and a murder investigation commenced.  Mark Jewitt, of Constable Street was charged last September with the offence.

Senior Investigating Officer in the case, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Gadd said: “I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with this case.  The public answered our appeal last year and provided information that supported our investigation. This thorough investigation has brought about the plea this morning.”

Mark Jewitt will be sentenced at Hull Crown Court on Thursday 12 March 2020.
