Man assaulted in bar

Grimsby: Appeal for victim to come forward

7 Sep 2016

Officers investigating reports of an assault in The Bank pub, Grimsby, are appealing for witnesses – and the victim – to come forward.

The incident happened between 7.15pm and 7.45pm on Monday, September 5, when a man approached another man within the Bethlehem Street bar and assaulted him.

An altercation ensued and both fell to the floor, at which point the victim – who was white and wearing a blue jacket - was further assaulted, before door staff intervened.

However, the offender is said to have remained in the area of the bar and he and the victim were later involved in a further altercation in the street.

The offender is described as white, around 30 years old, of muscular build, around 5ft 11in tall and balding. He wore a grey jumper and dark coloured jeans.

A man suspected of being involved was arrested a short time later in Victoria Street on suspicion of affray. He has been bailed to a date in October, pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference number 2212514.
