Last night roads policing officers were alerted to a suspected stolen car that was being driven through Hull.
The car was stopped on Sutton Street around 8.45pm on Wednesday 13 March and the vehicle was searched. A 12-inch long kitchen knife and wire cutters were found inside and seized.
An 18-year-old man from Manchester and a 44-year-old man from Hull have both been arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a bladed article.
The 18-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of driving without a licence and having no insurance.
PC Nicola Adamson from Beverley CID said: “I am glad another knife has been found and taken off the streets.
“This seizure is very timely as this week we are supporting Operation Sceptre which is the national knife surrender.
“This particular knife is now in our possession and we've removed the possibility of it either falling into the wrong hands or it being used in crime.
“The two arrested men are still in our custody today.”
