Illegal steroids seized and man arrested

5 Oct 2018

A significant amount of illegal steroids has been seized from a premises on Strickland Street in Hull today along with thousands of pounds in cash.

Our proactive team executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at the property and seized the class C drugs and around £2,500.

Further intelligence led officers to another property where three suitcases of illegal anabolic steroids were also found and seized.

A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class C drug. He has been released under investigation.

The drugs are now being tested and other enquiries are being conducted.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bradley said: “The perception that steroids aren’t as dangerous as so-called ‘harder’ drugs is a myth. They can be just as lethal and there have been a number of cases where people have tragically died as a result of taking them.

“It’s not just class A and class B drugs such as heroin, cocaine and cannabis that our officers execute warrants on. To seize such a large amount of these kind of drugs is a great result.

“We will act on any intelligence given to us so we can take these dangerous substances off our streets and continue to tackle drugs and drug related crime. Contact us directly or you can ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
