EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE
A 26-year-old man has been arrested after officers pursued a vehicle towing suspected stolen machinery yesterday evening (Wednesday 30 October).
At around 1pm, officers were called to reports that machinery had been stolen from a business on North Cave Road, and the driver of the vehicle is then believed to have fled the scene with the stolen machinery allegedly in tow.
Following the report, eagle-eyed officers from our roads policing unit spotted a vehicle they believed to be connected to the incident on the M62 Eastbound and a pursuit ensued from North Cave through to South Cave and Raywell, towards Riplingham Road roundabout.
Upon initially failing to stop for officers, our armed response unit joined in a further pursuit through the area of Cottingham. The vehicle then subsequently collided with a closed barrier on Station Road, and the driver proceeded to exit the vehicle on foot.
The man was then thought to have been garden hopping on New Village Road in Cottingham, and in a further attempt to evade arrest, he fled towards Dunswell Lane before officers arrested him on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.
The 26-year-old man remains in police custody assisting with ongoing enquiries.
If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information which may assist officers with their investigation, please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 213 of 30 October.
Alternatively, you can report anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
