Twenty nine arrested following Hull disorder

One man has already appeared before the courts and a total of 29 people have been arrested following a demonstration that took place on Saturday 3 August in Hull City Centre.

 ACC Thom McLoughlin said: “The events of this weekend were utterly senseless and whilst those involved attempted to tear our communities apart, the last 48-hours have been truly heart-warming, seeing residents come together to help everybody who has been affected by such mindless thuggery this weekend.

 “I’d like to thank everybody who has been out and about since Sunday morning, helping residents and partnering agencies, with people from across the city coming together as a part of the clean-up efforts to show what it really means to be a part of our communities.

 “The sheer level of camaraderie has been phenomenal, and I’d like to thank each and every one of you for your words of support towards emergency service staff and our officers, eleven of which were injured over the weekend, some of whom have since required hospital treatment.

 “I can confirm of the 29 arrested one man, John Honey, 25-years-old, of Park Grove has been charged for three counts of robbery, two counts of burglary, violent disorder and criminal damage was remanded into custody to appear at Hull Magistrates Court today (Monday 5 August).

 “We have now arrested a total of 29 people, I can assure you more will follow as we continue to extensively view numerous clips and videos that have been sent into us as well as circulating on social media to further assist with multiple lines of enquiry.

 “Our communities can expect to continue to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, both offering reassurance and gathering information. I’d encourage you to please speak to our officers when you see them, express any concerns, and provide any information you have that might assist our investigation.

 “I continue to appeal to anyone who has any information, dashcam or mobile footage relating to any of the disorder, to please call us on 101 quoting Operation Executive.

Twenty-four individuals arrested as a part of our investigation have since been bailed with conditions pending further investigation.
