A total of 74 people have been arrested, with 42 of these having since been charged and 12 now behind bars for their involvement in the disorder that attacked Hull City Centre on Saturday 3 August.
ACC Thom McLoughlin said: “Firstly, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who called in or gave information via our Major Incident Portal. The way that the communities have come together since that day, both to clean up the city and to support our policing operation has been truly inspiring.
“I also want to praise the officers and staff across the force who have worked so hard: scouring CCTV, following up lines of enquiry to identify everyone involved and providing reassurance to our communities following the disorder.
“This has been done alongside all of our day-to-day business, with teams across the force responding to and investigating crimes of all natures and bringing suspects into custody, to ensure that the service we provide to our communities has not been affected.
“Any crime committed across the Humberside force area will always be thoroughly investigated, and my assurance is that this has and is continuing and we are doing everything we can to hold those responsible for any criminal offence to account. We will be there for you when you need us and I would encourage anyone who is a victim of crime to please always come forward and report it.
“We are still investigating the disorder and violence that hit the streets of Hull City Centre earlier this month and we are continuing to pursue those who were involved and brought chaos to our city that night.
“A dozen of these people are already behind bars serving a combined total of over 34 years for harming our city and causing fear amongst our communities, with The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorising charges for an additional 42 who are currently going through the criminal justice process.
“I would like to take this opportunity to reassure communities that we continue to follow other lines of enquiries in order to identify further offenders and we will continue until these lines of enquiry have been exhausted.
“Earlier this week we released a further set of CCTV images of people that we would like to speak to following the disorder and I ask anyone who recognises the individuals shown or has any information about the disorder to please get in touch via our non-emergency 101 line quoting ‘Operation Executive’.”
