Grimsby: Car stolen in burglary recovered by police

20 Feb 2018

At 5.40am yesterday an elderly couple on Farebrother Street in Grimsby reported that their home had been broken into overnight and their White Kia Sportage had been stolen.

At 6.40am the vehicle was seen on Peaks Lane in Grimsby travelling at speed and erratically.  It had left the road and gone into a field. The driver and passenger had run away from the scene and were detained by officers on Scartho Road at 7.40am.

Two boys from Grimsby aged 17 and 14 were arrested and questioned and have now been released under investigation while our enquiries continue.

Chief Inspector Jenny Bristow said: "Burglary of a home is a very personal crime. Going into someone's home affects people in different way and often has a lasting impact, we will work with the victims to help make them feel safe in their home."
