Cyclist killed in collision

Sledmere: Officers are appealing for witnesses

A cyclist has sadly died after being in collision with a lorry on the B1253 near Sledmere yesterday.

The incident happened close to Cowlam Crossroads at around 3.15pm on Friday, November 25, and involved a green Specialised Allez bike and a white Iveco tipper.

Both vehicles were travelling towards Sledmere.

The victim, believed to be a man in his fifties from the Driffield area, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification is yet to take place.

The driver of the lorry, a 29-year-old Bridlington man, was uninjured but treated for shock by paramedics.

Officers leading the investigation into the circumstances are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw either the cyclist or the lorry prior to the incident.
