North East Lincolnshire

4 Dec 2018

We want to say thank you to a member of the public who flagged down a police car in Cleethorpes which has led to a man being arrested on suspicion of stealing a large amount of expensive chocolates from a supermarket.

It happened on Grimsby Road just after midday today Tuesday 4 December.

We received a call that an alleged theft had taken place. A patrol car which was already in the area was quickly flagged down by a member of the public who pointed out a suspect.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft. He’s also been arrested on suspicion of a previous incident of theft and a breach of a court order.

He’s now in our custody.

The chocolates have been returned to the supermarket.
