Officers investigating the suspected theft of £160 from a Co-op store in Barton are appealing for help in tracing the men.

The incident happened at the Market Lane store at around 3.30pm on Sunday, March 13.

Two men and two women came into the store and the men asked to buy spirits to the value of more than £300.

After the suspected offenders paid, the cashier realised they had not given him enough money and asked for the balance.

After making up the difference, the offenders have asked for the money to be given back so it can be counted again, before handing it back to the cashier.

The offenders then asked for a discount and, on having their request refused, decided not to go ahead with the purchase, took the money back and left the store, driving away in a blue Audi A4.

When the cashier checked the till, it was found to be £160 short.

The men and women were all said to be of Asian appearance.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference number 2174998.
