Burglars hit two properties in village

Elsham: Residents warned to be on their guard

16 Jun 2015

Police are appealing for residents to be on their guard – and to ensure their homes are secure - after two properties were targeted by thieves in one night in Elsham, near Brigg in North Lincolnshire.

The incidents both happened during the night of Saturday June 13.

The first saw thieves sneaking into a home in Front Street via an insecure rear door, between 10.45pm on Saturday June 13 and 7.30am the following day.

The offender made an untidy search of the ground floor and escaped with electronics, handbags and children’s school books – to the value of more than £6,000.

The thieves also picked up car keys that had been left downstairs and used them to drive away in the occupants’ car – which was later recovered.

The second incident happened at some point during the same night at Elsham Golf Club, Barton Road.

In this case, the offender attempted to force open a rear window but did not succeed in getting into the property. It is thought they may have been disturbed by a fire alarm.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference 2119387 and log 151 of June 14 respectively.
