How do I hide my visit to this site?
If you are a victim of abuse your abuser could be monitoring your internet usage. Depending what browser you are using, take the steps below to disguise your visit to the site.
If you are using Internet Explorer: Click on the Tools menu (in the row at the top of the browser). Select Internet Options from the drop down menu. You should now be on a tab that says 'General' - if not, select 'General'. Under the title, 'Temporary Internet Files'. Click on 'Delete Files'. You can also check the box that says delete all offline content. Then, under 'History' click on 'Clear History.' Then click OK, at the bottom. In future, you can avoid having to do this by going into ‘Tools’ and selecting InPrivate Browsing. A quicker way to do this is to hit Ctrl+Shift+P. This will open a new window in InPrivate browsing.
If you are using Google Chrome: Click on the settings tab (three horizontal lines at the top right corner of the page). Select ‘History’, select ‘clear browsing data’ and make sure you tick all of the boxes available. Then select the time period. Maybe only delete the last hour or day so as not to arouse suspicion in your partner. Now click the ‘clear browsing data’ tab.To avoid having to do this is future, at the start of your session, click on the settings tab and select the ‘New Incognito window’ option. A quicker way to do this is to hit Ctrl+Shift+N
If you are using Safari: Select the ‘history’ tab at the top of the page. Click ‘clear history’. Select the ‘clear’ tab.To avoid having to do this in future click the ‘Safari’ tab in the top left hand corner. Select ‘private browsing’Click ‘OK’ to turn it on.
