We are out in the area listening to your concerns through Humber Talking and working proactively with partners such as Hull City Council and other agencies to reduce antisocial behaviour.
We have dedicated PCSOs out each evening dealing with antisocial behaviour from young people within the parks across the west of the city. We work closely with youth outreach workers to deter any offending behaviour and direct young people to alternative activities as well as dealing with anyone involved in criminal activity. We work closely with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service to deal with young people committing arson offences within the area.
The team are tackling nuisance motorcycle issues by identifying and targeting those involved in motorcycle crime, providing a visible presence in those locations frequently used and seizing any vehicles used inappropriately. Operation Yellowfin has assisted this activity in recent months and had a significant impact in reducing offending throughout the warmer months.
Rough sleeping and aggressive begging are still occurring within the Avenue Ward, albeit on a smaller scale than previous years. We have been working closely with staff from Westbourne House to identify those involved, signpost them to accommodation and support them with any needs they may have. We also target prolific offenders through enforcement action and have successfully obtained Criminal Behaviour Orders for the most prolific offenders, resulting in custodial sentences for any breaches.
Drug dealing, along with the associated antisocial behaviour it brings to the community, is taking place from various addresses within the Hull West area. We're keen to hear from residents who may have information about any drug related offending in order to gather further intelligence and take enforcement action. Our recent successes include, as part of a multi-agency approach, the execution of a warrant within the Avenue Ward with arrests being made within the address. Hull City Council obtained a full Closure Order for the property to ensure that it cannot be used to cause any further disruption to the lives of local residents. We have also executed several other drug warrants at various addresses in recent weeks to target those involved in supplying drugs and disrupt their activities.
The work we have done alongside Hull City Council to improve the security of homes within the Boothferry and Derringham Wards has seen a decrease in offending rates in recent months. We urge residents to keep all valuables in sheds and garages out of sight and to fit appropriate alarms and locking devices where possible, as this has proved an excellent deterrent.
