Ride along scheme confidentiality agreement

If you join us on a ride along you could see or hear information that must remain confidential. This could include:

• spoken information (including anything you hear on a police radio)
• written and printed information
• photographs
• computer systems, including those in police cars
• confidential waste

You can talk in general terms about what you saw as part of the ride along. But you must not talk or write about, or post on social media, any information that could identify any individuals involved in a crime, or any victims of a crime. For example:

• names
• address
• date of birth
• photographs
• recordings 

You must follow the Official Secrets Act 1989 and the Data Protection Act 2018. This means that if you reveal any information without permission you could be prosecuted.

Please note that any information you add to this form may be used if any legal proceedings are brought against you. 

These restrictions on what you must keep confidential still apply after you've been on a ride along.
