Humberside Police - protecting communities, targeting criminals

UPDATE FROM BEVERLEY MINSTER AND WOODMANSEY

Youths and Alcohol

Although it has been mentioned previously, I thought it would be useful to remind you on our procedures on how we deal with youths found with alcohol.  On the first occasion, they will get a letter home.  On the second occasion, they get a home visit from either a PCSO /PC to chat to their parents to see if we can stop this behaviour and offer support if necessary.  On the third occasion, we, in conjunction with Safe Communities at East Riding Council, invite them to sign an Acceptable Behaviour Contract.  On the fourth occasion, they breach that and on the fith occasion, they will be interviewed and charged to court.  The law actually states only 3 occasions in a 12 month period, we go for 5, so as to allow some intervention work to try and stop getting them in the court in the first place.  Since starting this procedure, it has proved very successful and  anti social behaviour and criminal damage has reduced.

It was interesting to read an article based on the new street surveys that can be found on Police.co.uk. The survey showed that Minster Avenue in Beverley was one of the most burgled streets in the East Riding. I do ask people to be aware that the figures can be very misleading. That particular incident included 10 sheds that were broken into on the same night by the same offender and near to nothing was actually taken. It could quite easily have been classed as one job in a street which otherwise has little or no crime at all.

If you have any worries about crime in your area, then please feel free to contact the neighbourhood team and we will tell you more accurate information.

Drugs Cannabis Private Residence and Class A Night Time Economy

The neighbourhood team are currently gathering information surrounding premises and persons involved in the use and supply of drugs within the Beverley area. Cannabis is widely used within the town and without doubt will be cultivated locally.  Please note that cannabis is now a Class B drug again, and it does have long term harmful affects.

If you have any information please feel free to contact the Beverley Neighbourhood Team by using the 0845 60 60 222 or alternatively if you do not want to speak directly to a Police Officer then you can ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.  They will send the information onto us.

Woodmansey Update

There was a theft of some Koi Carp in January from a house near  Plaxton Bridge Road. If anyone has any information re this offence please ring 0845 60 60 222 and quote CS/1808130/10. I would imagine to move such creatures would require some planning – that’s if the cunning heron didn’t pinch them!

There was also another theft of fuel from Colleta and Tyson on Ferry Lane in Woodmansey – again please report any suspicious vehicles seen near any of the greenhouses.  Ideally, note down the registration number, colour and type of car and brief descriptions of any persons seen.
