Residents Playing a Part
Dear Residents of Lancing Way, On Thursday 4th February, a Street Briefing was held mainly for the residents of Lancing Way. It was encouraging to see a good attendance by local residents and all concerns and issues that were raised were noted and are in the process of being actioned by Police and supporting agencies.
To sum up, the main concerns are as follows:-
1. Vehicles parking on the grassed areas and double parking on the roadside;
2. Youths congregating and causing anti-social behaviour during the weekend daytime and also during evenings, particularly around the alleyway but also near the wheelie bin bunkers;
3. Reports of criminal damage to property and shop thefts.
It was also encouraging to see residents that attended were also able to provide suggestions and ideas to improve the situation, again all of which have been taken into account and are currently being addressed.
As a result of these issues, and as requested, we would like to take this opportunity to remind residents and their visitors to park their vehicles in a considerate manner and location. We understand that parking is limited, however obstructions and damage caused to the grassed area by use of vehicles is unacceptable. Any further observations of drivers and owners of these vehicles will be dealt with in the appropriate manner. We would appreciate your co-operation in this matter.
In relation to the problems of youths causing anti-social behaviour, a Neighbourhood Diary has been handed to Mrs Willows of The Perfect Touch,
Although we would encourage you to report crime and anti-social behaviour directly to us please also consider this alternative method.
Please be reassured that your area is being patrolled by your local Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers on a regular basis, particularly during the evenings and this will continue until the situation has improved. We have already had some success of dealing with three individuals where a young person was responsible for a crime, another where a moped was seized and a third has recently been issued with an Acceptable Behaviour Contract where behaviour will be closely monitored and further breaches will result in consideration for an ASBO.
We do take your concerns seriously and we will act on them. We will update you within 28days in relation to further progress that we have made and we will notify you by email or leaflet drops.
In the meantime if there is anything else that you wish to discuss then please do not hesitate to contact any of us below:-

Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership
DID YOU KNOW???
JANUARY 2010 has seen seen the lowest number of monthly recorded crimes across the North East Lincolnshire region since records began, in 1996, meaning 57 fewer victims of crime per day in our area compared to the highest recorded figure in March 2004.
It is no secret that national targets are tight and changes have been made to the way in which the police work alongside the multitude of communities that make up North East Lincolnshire.
These have been made in order to improve the quality service delivered to residents and businesses across the region.
Working closely with our partners such as North East Lincolnshire Council, siginificant reductions have been seen in area's such as burglary and night time economy related violence which can have a lasting impact on victims.
The figures demonstrate that the ongoing partnership work is moving in the right direction but the agencies involved are still striving to achieve further reductions building on public confidence in the future.
To put these reductions into perspective, January 1997 saw a total of 2071 recorded crimes which actually rose to a peak of 2879 in January 2004 however this year January 2010 has seen just 1309 crimes being recorded across the division.
Detective Chief Insp Bob Clark said: "It is pleasing to see the ongoing hard work throughout the division is starting to bear fruit however there will be members of public out there who still feel we could do more to improve on the service we deliver and that is what we intend to do.
"Along with our partners, we are constantly looking at new ways to tackle crime and disorder issues that cause the most concern throughout the area and how to encourage members of public to work with us in order to make North East Lincolnshire a safer place to live, work or visit.
"For example, making residents aware of emerging issues as soon as we identify them and advising on how to reduce the chances of being targeted has seen significant reductions in burglary in area's traditionally targeted by criminals. This is just one example of how we are looking at involving our communities more in order make life harder for those looking to commit crime.
"Although we feel there are still further improvements to be made in areas such as satisfaction and in particular the perceptions of crime and disorder across the area these figures certainly show that we are moving in the right direction and it is to be hoped that residents will look at what they can do to support our work in the future to continue reducing the number of crimes and victims across North East Lincolnshire."
