2011 Champions - One World One Chance

‘One World, One Chance’, Alice, Olivia, Anna, Lily and Katie Smith leapt with joy as they were announced winners of Lifestyle.  A true sense of community spirit was achieved by their project as they worked to bring their whole community together through a number of events and fundraising activities, including: a big tea party in aid of Marie Curie, a family beach party, fun nights at the local pub including bingo, karaoke, charity auctions and much more; collections of food and toiletries for the homeless and rootless were organised; activity books were bought for doctors and dentist surgeries, as well as providing musical instruments for preschoolers and the play group.  They also celebrated different cultures by organising ‘Indian’, ‘Chinese’, and ‘Polish’ cultural evenings where friends and neighbours were invited to sample the cuisine, try on traditional dress and find out more about customs and traditions whilst having a brilliant time in great company!

Paul Lyons, Lifestyle Awards Supporter from Arco said, “As always, the high standard of Lifestyle projects combined with commitment and passion from the teams, made judging extremely difficult. It was a very close run competition for first place. ‘One World – One Chance’ claimed the overall prize because their project not only brought a whole community together, it also benefited a huge range of charities. The diversity of activities was overwhelming. Very deserved winners!”
