Anti Social Behaviour and Public Order, Town Centre, Snaith

Throughout January the Neighbourhood Policing Team have seen an increase in calls for service from licensed premises in Snaith on Friday and Saturday evenings, in to the early hours of the morning. These calls have ranged from people shouting and swearing in the street, to people causing damage and assaulting others. The Neighbourhood Policing Team are liaising with the Snaith Landlords through the Pubwatch Scheme and are operating a zero tolerance approach to any persons found participating in disorder in and around the Public Houses. Any persons identified as committing offences will be dealt with by Police and, more than likely, banned from frequenting the Public Houses via the Pubwatch Scheme. The Neighbourhood Policing Team are running an initiative to combat this type of behaviour which will run throughout the rest of January, February and in to March. A double crewed patrol vehicle will be dedicated to high visibility patrols throughout the Neighbourhood Policing area and will respond to all calls of Anti Social Behaviour and Public Order. Members of the public are reminded to enjoy their evenings out in Snaith but to ensure they do not get involved in any behaviour that may be seen as anti social and to report any incidents of this behaviour to the Police.

Poaching in Rawcliffe Bridge and The Marshlands

Over the past few months the Policing team have noticed an increase in poaching incidents in the areas of Rawcliffe Bridge and Swinefleet and the Marshlands. The Farm Watch for both areas have been working together with the local Policing Team to assist in obtaining evidence of offences to help Police with their enquiries. A system has been put in place to pass information between the Farm Watch co-ordinators and the Police to assist in stopping and deterring poachers in the area. A poaching initiative has been in place throughout January whereby a double crewed patrol car has been conducting high visibility patrols on weekends throughout the identified areas that are targeted by poachers. Over the past few weeks the Team have noticed a considerable decrease in poaching incidents in the area. The initiative will continue throughout February.

Fuel Thefts

Throughout the Humberside Police force area there has been a large increase in reports of fuel thefts. This is both theft of diesel from HGV’s and also theft from heating tanks for both residential and commercial properties. The Neighbourhood Policing Team are regularly conducting patrols near to industrial areas and commercial buildings that store HGV’s and also HGV’s that are parked in lay-by’s overnight. Warning leaflets with basic but crucial crime prevention advice are being handed out and contact has been made with businesses to advise them of the increase in thefts. Humberside Police have also created a new role of ‘Business Advisor’ which allows local businesses to have face to face contact and advice from a trained member of the force, who is able to dedicate time to complete a security survey on business premises in the hope of preventing the business from becoming a victim of crime. Members of the public are asked to call in any suspicious vehicles or persons around HGV’s or around business premises out of normal business operating hours.
