• Attending local meetings:-

Police Surgery. An opportunity for you to meet privately with a member of the neighbourhood team to discuss any policing issue of concern. This is a drop-in event so you may have to wait a few minutes.

Police and Communities Together Meeting. This is a public meeting where the police and other public authority representatives will be present. Its main purpose is to determine what the local priorities for action over the next three moths will be. It gives members of the public an opportunity to raise their concerns and influence those decisions.

Street Briefing. The whole neighbourhood team will be briefed on current problems in the area and tasked to deal with them. The public can meet with the officers and be informed about how they can help with these issues.

Vehicle Crime Alert!

Overnight 12th to 13th January 2012, 6 vehicles in our area were entered and items stolen from 5 of these. Property stolen included power tools (drills), a chainsaw, a Sat Nav and a hammer drill. 5 offences occurred in Market Weighton (Northgate Vale, Sancton Road, Wold Avenue, York Road and Princess Road) and one in Barmby Moor.

Vehicle Safety Matters!

In October 2011, a designated patrol aimed at driver improvement in the Pocklington area was undertaken on the A1079 near Market Weighton by officers from the Roads Policing Unit of Humberside Police, in company with officers from my team, the force Vehicle Investigation Branch, VOSA, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Customs and Excise. The following offences were dealt with: - 10 non endorsable fixed penalty tickets we issued for no seat belt. - 2 endorsable fixed penalty tickets were issued for speeding. - 2 drivers were offered driver improvement courses for using mobile phones whilst driving. - - 1 driver was offered a speed awareness course for a speeding offence. - Summonses were issued for driving other than accordance with a driving licence (1), no insurance (1) and speeding (2). - In addition, several vehicles were subject of prohibition notices.

Now that the dark nights are upon us, the regular appearance of vehicles with one only headlight working shows up how many people aren’t considering a few simple checks before setting out on journeys. Bulbs blow on vehicles; it’s happened to all of us, but we do need to consider our safety when out on the roads, particularly at this time of year in the rural areas. And it’s not just headlamps that can catch us out. The cold and dirt of a winter’s day can put us at risk So here are a few suggestions that should help:

Anti-social behaviour and Criminal Damage – The Square, Stamford Bridge (Evenings):

Following a complaint of from the Stamford Bridge Parish Council of graffiti being caused in the bus shelter, the area of The Square, Stamford Bridge will be targeted during February. Patrols will be regularly checking this area and anyone found committing offences will be dealt with. There is unlikely to be any discretion shown and anyone found causing damage will be arrested. Use of £80 Penalty Notices for Disorder and letters to parents re underage drinking will also be considered where appropriate.

Throughout February, we are to continue our High Visibility patrols of the Pocklington Town Centre area to deter potential anti-social behaviour. There have been two criminal damage offences reported at ton centre commercial premises during January. Criminal offenders will be challenged robustly, arrested or reported for summons. Penalty Notices for Disorder or warning letters may be used in appropriate cases however, those who offend should expect to be arrested and dealt with if their anti social behaviour amounts to criminal offending. - On 29th January, 2012, a Pocklington male was arrested for criminal damage and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm following an incident in the town.

- On 22nd January 2012, a Pocklington male was arrested for being Drunk and Disorderly in the town and received an £80 Penalty Notice for Disorder.

- On 21st January 2012, a Pocklington male was arrested and received a Caution for Common Assault.

- On 14th January 2012, a 24 year old male received a caution for Common Assault, and for an offence under Section 5 of the Public Order Act, arising from an incident in Pocklington in December 2011.

- On 5th January 2012, a 49 year old Market Weighton male was arrested under Section 5 of the Public Order Act following an incident near Pocklington.

- A 25 year old Pocklington male was arrested and charged with Common Assault and Criminal Damage in the town on 1st January, 2012.

- On 30th December 2011, a male was arrested for being unfit to drive through drink or drugs in Stamford Bridge

- On 29th December 2011, a 32 year old Pocklington male was arrested for Common Assault following an incident in the town.

- On 29th December 2011, two juveniles from Pocklington were arrested for theft. They are currently on Police Bail.

- A male from Doncaster has been charged in relation to several offences of criminal damage that occurred in the town centre area of Pocklington in October 2011.

- A 38 year old Pocklington male was arrested and charged with Criminal Damage following an incident in the town during the early hours of 19th December 2011.

- A 19 year old female from York was arrested for criminal damage following an incident in Stamford Bridge during the early hours of 17th December 2011.

- A 23 year old male from York received an £80 Penalty Notice For Disorder arising out of an incident in Stamford Bridge during the early hours of 17th December 2011.

-A 17 year old Pocklington male has received a Reprimand for Section 4 public Order Act (Threatening Behaviour) and possession of an offensive weapon following an incident in the town in August 2011.

- A 17 year old Pocklington female has been charged under the Protection from Harassment Act following an incident in the town on 12th December 2011.

- Two males from Doncaster were arrested and interviewed in relation to several offences of theft from shop in the Pocklington area committed during November. They are currently on Police Bail pending further enquiries.

- On 10th December 2011, a male from Chester received an £80 Fixed Penalty Notice for Disorder, for urinating in the street on Station Road, Pocklington.

- On 5th December 2011, a 16 year old Pocklington male received a Final Warning for theft and possession of cannabis arising from incidents earlier in the year in the town.

- A Pocklington male was issued with an £80 Fixed penalty Notice for being drunk and disorderly following an incident in the town centre during the early hours of 4th December 2011.

- Between June and August 2011, there were a large number of shed burglaries committed at allotments across the East Riding of Yorkshire, most noticeably at Pocklington, Driffield, Bridlington, and Howden. Large quantities of tools and equipment including rotivators, lawnmowers hedge trimmers and rollers were stolen. Following extensive enquiries and the involvement of the divisional Proactive Team a male was arrested in Scarborough and a large quantity of property was recovered. The investigating officers then commenced the laborious task of trying to identify the owners of the property, arranging a number of public viewings. Consequently the officers were able to charge the male with 20 offences of burglary.

- On 24th November, 2011, a male from Scarborough was charged with 8 offences of burglary in relation to allotments on the Mile at Pocklington committed in July and August this year. In addition, he was charged with 12 similar offences in the Bridlington and Driffield areas committed in June this year. He is due to appear at court on 7th December 2011.

- On 23rd November 2011, a joint “Winter Safe” initiative was run on the Balk, Pocklington by officers from the Pocklington and Wolds Weighton Neighbourhood Policing Team, supported by colleagues from the Roads Policing Unit and Vehicle Investigation Branch of Humberside Police, ERYC, Customs and Excise and VOSA. 82 vehicles were checked with 7 verbal warnings for offences, 13 Vehicle Defect Forms issued, 6 Fixed Penalty notices issued (for offences of HGV driving 45 hours over permitted hours, insecure load, 2 x no seatbelt, glass not prescribed, and dangerous parts), and 9 Prohibition Notices issued for dangerous parts, defective lights, defective brakes x 2, HGV driving over permitted hours x 2, indicators and No MOT x 2). The emphasis was very much on road safety in the lead up to the winter months.

- 22nd November 2011, a male from Barmby Moor was arrested for driving over the prescribed alcohol limit following an incident in the village.

- On 22nd November 2011, a female from the Pocklington area was arrested for driving over the prescribed limit.

- On 19th November 2011, a 20 year old Wilberfoss male was charged with possession of a controlled drug.

- On 19th November 2011, a 21 year old Stamford Bridge male was charged with possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply arising out of an incident in the village earlier this year.

- On 13th November 2011, a male from Pocklington was arrested following a suspicious incident on board a bus in the town. He is currently on Police Bail.

- On 13th November 2011, a 15 year old male from Pocklington received a Reprimand for Common Assault.

- On 13th November 2011, a 20 year old male Wilberfoss was arrested for being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs. He is currently on Police Bail.

- On 4th November 2011, a Pocklington male received a caution at Goole Police Station in relation to offences of Fraud by False Representation, Section 5 Public Order Act and offering to supply a classified video other than in a licensed sex shop following an incident in the town centre on Friday 30th September 2011

- On 30th October 2011, a male was arrested for being Drunk and Disorderly in Pocklington.

- On 20th October 2011, a 45 year old male residing in the Pocklington area was arrested and charged in relation to offences of theft from a shop and an offence of criminal damage committed in the town on 3rd October 2011.

- A 41 year old male from Wilberfoss was arrested on 2nd October 2011 for driving over the prescribed limit. He was charged to court and was banned from driving for 24 months and received a £415 fine.

- An 18 year old Pocklington male has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent following an incident in the town during the early hours of 15th October 2011.

- A 40 year old male from Doncaster has been charged with criminal damage arising out of an incident in the Pocklington Town Centre during the early hours of 15th October 2011. He is on Police Bail in relation to several other similar offences committed in the town around the same time.

- A male from Stamford Bridge has received a caution for Common Assault and causing Harassment, Alarm and Distress under Section 5 of the Public Order Act following an incident in the village reported in July 2011.

- A 45 year old Pocklington male was arrested for assault on 13th October 2011.

- A 51 year old Pocklington male has received an £80 Penalty Notice for Disorder for theft from a supermarket in the town on 27th September 2011.

- Two males from Pocklington were arrested for taking a vehicle without consent and in relation to a commercial burglary committed in the town overnight 26th to 27th September 2011.

- A 22 year old male from Stamford Bridge has been arrested and is currently on Police Bail in relation to an assault which occurred in the village on 16th September 2011.

- A 16 year old Pocklington female has received a Reprimand for arson to a tree and a fence in the town committed on 5th August 2011.

- A Pocklington male has received a caution for the Production of Cannabis.

- On 12th September 2011, a 28 year old male from Stamford Bridge was arrested for criminal damage following an incident in the village. He was subsequently charged with the offence.

- On 4th September 2011, a male lorry driver was arrested and charged with driving over the prescribed limit on the A1079 at Barmby Moor.

- Late in the evening of 15 August 2011 three males were seen acting suspiciously on the Pocklington Industrial Estate. Officers attended and found one male hidden behind a van which turned out to be the offenders’ vehicle and which contained a number of drums of diesel. During a search of the premises two more males were found hiding and it was discovered that the filler caps of a number of vehicle parked in the compound had been attacked. One male was subsequently charged with theft from motor vehicles. The other 2 were cautioned.

- On 5th August 2010 a man was attacked by 2 males in the driveway of his home in Stamford Bridge. One of the males used a cricket bat to strike the victim to the back of the head a number of times causing serious head injuries. A quick response by the Police resulted in one male being arrested at the time and subsequently charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. However the second male made good his escape.

As a result of enquires the second male was identified and it was established that he fled to Cyprus. An international arrest warrant was issued and the male was arrested on 22/08/2011 in Cyprus. He has been returned to this country charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and remanded in custody.

- Two males from Pocklington were arrested for assault following an incident in the town during the early hours of 28th August, 2011.

- A 44 year old Pocklington male was arrested for the cultivation of cannabis, following the seizure of a number of mature plants from his home in the town on 26th August, 2011.

- On the evening of 15th August 2011, three males (two from West Yorkshire; one from Nottinghamshire) were arrested on suspicion of the theft of diesel from Pocklington Industrial Estate.

- On 9th August 2011, a 31 year old male from Barmby Moor was arrested for S20 Assault following an incident in Pocklington on the evening of 7th August, 2011. He was bailed pending further enquiries.

- On 8th August 2011, a 48 year old Scarborough male was arrested, interviewed and bailed pending further enquiries in relation to thefts from the Allotments site at Pocklington.

- On the 27th July 2011, a female was arrested in connection to a theft in Pocklington. She was inter viewed and admitted the offence. She received a Fixed Penalty Ticket.

- On the 26th July 2011, a male was arrested having committed an assault in the Pocklington area. He was arrested and interviewed.

- On the 26th July 2011, a Stamford Bridge male was arrested in Pocklington for being in possession of a controlled substance /with intent to supply. The male was interviewed and bailed.

- On 24th July 2011, a 31 year old Pocklington male received a caution for possession of cannabis.

- On 8th July 2011, a male was arrested in Pocklington with regard to a theft. He was interviewed and issued with an £80 Penalty Notice.

- On 6th July 2011, a male was detained and interviewed in Pocklington having being found in possession of a controlled substance.

- On 2nd July, 2011, a male from Stamford Bridge was arrested for common assault arising from an incident in the village. He was subsequently street bailed pending further enquiries.

- On the 1st July 2011, in Pocklington, a male was arrested in relation to an assault. He was interviewed regarding the offence and received a caution.

- On the 1st July 2011, in Pocklington, a male was arrested for causing Harassment, Alarm and Distress. He was arrested, interviewed and charged to court.

- On the 29th June 2011, in Pocklington, a male was arrested in relation to a public order offence. He was detained and charged.

- A 46 year old male from Stamford Bridge has received a caution for Common Assault arising out of an incident in the village on 19th June, 2011.

- A Pocklington male has been issued with an £80 Penalty Notice for Criminal Damage arising out of an incident in the town during the early hours of 19th June, 2011.

- During the evenings of 16th and 17th June, 2011, a Young Drivers’ Initiative aimed at highlighting road traffic offences and improved driving, was jointly run by Safer Roads Humber and the Pocklington and Wolds Weighton Neighbourhood Policing Team across both of our wards. In addition to a number of verbal warnings and general advice being given, 5 people were issued with Fixed Penalty Notices for using mobile phones whilst driving, and another driver was reported for summons for the manner of his driving, with a Young Driver’s Referral being recommended.

- A 32 year old Pocklington male has received a caution for being Drunk and Disorderly arising out of an incident in the town on 28th February, 2011. A 31 year old male has been charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm arising out on an incident at Stamford Bridge on 25th May, 2011.

- A 16 year old male from Barmby moor has received a Reprimand for Common Assault.

- Four males from the West Yorkshire area were arrested for theft following an incident in Beverley which led to them abandoning a van in Barmby Moor during the afternoon of 16th May, 2011. One of the group arrested was subsequently charged with a commercial burglary in Beverley.

- A Pocklington male was arrested for assault arising out of an incident in the town during the early hours of 15th May, 2011.

- Following a stop check on Pocklington Industrial Estate on the evening of 9th May, 2011, a 20 year old Pocklington male has received a formal warning for cannabis possession and a 21 year old male from Melbourne has received an £80 Penalty Notice for possession of cannabis.

- Following a public order incident in Pocklington in December, 2011 two males received 4 months imprisonment (Youth
Offending Institute) suspended for 2 years and three males received 4 months imprisonment suspended for 2 years. All
have been required to complete unpaid work.

- A 16 year old Stamford Bridge male has received a Final Warning for Criminal Damage.

- A 14 year old Pocklington male has received a Reprimand for Common Assault.

- A 17 year old Pocklington male has received a Reprimand for two offences of theft committed in the town in April, 2011.

- A vehicle was seized for “No Insurance” following an incident in Market Place, Pocklington on 30th April, 2011.

- A 45 year old Pocklington male was arrested for assault following an incident in the town on 27th April, 2011

- During the policing of the Pocklington Sevens event on 22nd April 2011, a male was arrested in the ground during the afternoon under Section 5 of the Public Order Act and subsequently cautioned for Common Law Indecent Exposure. Two males were issued with £80 Penalty Notices for disorder in the town in separate incidents during the evening, and three males were issued with notices to leave the town centre area. One warning under Section 5 of the Public Order Act was administered.

- A 44 year old male was arrested for breaching a non molestation order arising out of separate incidents in Wilberfoss on the 16th and 21st April, 2011.

- A 17 year old Pocklington male was arrested for assault following an incident in the town centre during the early hours of 16th April 2011.

- A 46 year old male was arrested for attempted wounding following an incident in the town on 10th April, 2011.

- A 43 year old female from Pocklington was arrested and received a caution for Common Assault arising out of an incident at licensed premises in the town on the evening of 27th March, 2011.

- A 21 year old Pocklington male has been charged with Common Assault and a public order offence following an incident in the town on 19th February, 2011.

- A Pocklington male was arrested and charged with a racially aggravated public order offence arising out of an incident in the town on 20th March, 2011.

- A 20 year old male from Allerthorpe has been charged with Common Assault and Assault Police arising out of an incident in Pocklington in January 2011.

- A Pocklington male was arrested and charged with Common Assault, following an incident in the town on the evening of 20th March, 2011.

- A 44 year old female from York has received a caution for Common Assault arising from an incident in Wilberfoss in February, 2011.

- A female was arrested for driving over the prescribed limit following an incident in Pocklington on 13th March, 2011.

- A 44 year old Stamford Bridge male has been issued with an £80 Penalty Notice for Disorder for causing harassment, alarm and distress in an incident in the village on 5th March, 2011.

- A 19 year old Pocklington male has been charged with possession of cannabis arising out of a stop / check in the town on 2nd February, 2011.

- A Pocklington male was arrested for causing harassment, alarm and distress arising out of an incident in the town on 5th March, 2011.

- A 32 year old Pocklington male has appeared at court in relation to two offences of Common Assault and one offence of Criminal Damage committed in the town in February 2011. He was sentenced to a 24 month community order.

- A Pocklington male appeared at Beverley Magistrates’ Court on 3rd March 2011 in connection with an affray in licensed premises in the town committed on 18th December 2010. He was sentenced to a Referral Order for 6 months and ordered to pay court costs in the sum of £30. The other defendants in the case are to be committed for trial to the Hull Crown Court.

- A 22 year old Pocklington male was arrested to prevent a breach of the peace, following an incident in the town during the early hours of 2nd March, 2011.

Graffiti and criminal damage in the area of London Street, Union Street and The Avenue Pocklington on an evening

Since mind April, 2010, graffiti has appeared at several locations in the vicinity of The Avenue, Union Street, London Street and Maxwell Road. The tags “FS”, “Burner” and “Drone” were clearly in evidence and, more recently, more lengthy graffiti has appeared at Pocklington Infants’ school. The area has been patrolled on 12 occasions during May and our Police Community Support Officers will make regular checks on an evening in the area throughout June in order to deter and detect offences. If anyone can assist with identifying who these people are, please contact Police Community Support Officer Jane Matschke at Pocklington Police Station on 0845 60 60 222. If suspects are identified, they will be arrested.

Criminal Damage at Stamford Bridge Junior School on an evening

The weekend of 24th / 25th April saw further criminal damage committed at Stamford Bridge Junior School. The location was checked 9 times during April, with one report of youths on the site being reported. With the half terms holidays at the beginning of June and the onset of lighter nights, Police Community Support Officers are to continue to patrol this site on an evening throughout this month in an attempt to deter and detect offences. Anyone having any information regarding anyone who has caused criminal damage at the school is asked to contact either PCSO Gareth Ludlow or PC Mike Matfin at Pocklington Police Station on 0845 60 60 222

Speeding Church Road and High Catton Road, Stamford Bridge at various times of the day and evening

Complaints have been received regarding speeding issues that this location. The Neighbourhood Policing team will be assessing the area in June and, if appropriate, speed enforcement will be considered jointly with our colleagues in the Roads Policing Department.

Over the weekend of 16th to 18th April, graffiti appeared at several locations in the vicinity of The Avenue, Union Street, London Street and Maxwell Road. The tags “FS”, “Burner” and “Drone” were clearly in evidence. Police Community Support Officers will make regular checks on an evening in the area throughout May in order to deter and detect offences. If anyone can assist with identifying who these people are, please contact Police Community Support Officer Jane Matschke at Pocklington Police Station on 0845 60 60 222. If suspects are identified, they will be arrested.

Parking Issues at The Square, Stamford Bridge at various times of the day and evening.

Complaints regarding parking problems in The Square Stamford Bridge at all times of the day have been received. We have recently targeted the location, placed warning notices in shops in the area. The area has been patrolled 14 times during April, with four fixed penalty tickets issued and several verbal warnings administered. Patrols on daytime and evening shifts will continue to target the area throughout May and will continue to either advise or issue fixed penalty notices to offending vehicles in an attempt to educate drivers at this location. We are also working with Stamford Bridge Parish Council to consider a permanent solution to this problem.

The weekend of 24th / 25th April saw further criminal damage committed at Stamford Bridge Junior School. Police Community Support Officers are to regularly patrol the site on an evening throughout May in an attempt to deter and detect offences. Anyone having any information regarding anyone who has caused criminal damage at the school is asked to contact either PCSO Gareth Ludlow or PC Mike Matfin at Pocklington Police Station on 0845 60 60 222

Criminal Damage at Stamford Bridge School:

Action:- There have been no further incidents of criminal damage reported at Stamford Bridge Infants’ school. The site was checked 13 times over the past month and there was no suspicious activity reported.

Youths causing problems, Somerfield supermarket and surrounding area, George Street, Pocklington:

Action:- This area was patrolled 15 times over evening shifts throughout February with no incidents reported or discovered. It is believed that our work in reprimanding a youth offender and writing to the parents of four other youths involved in a disturbance in January has resolved this issue.

Speeding Complaints regarding the Balk and West Green, Pocklington

Action:- This complaint originated from members of Pocklington Town Council. Speed checks were carried out throughout February with 7 endorsable fixed penalty tickets issued, along with one other driver being reported for summons. Periodic speed checks will continue.
