Underage Drinking and Criminal Damage, The Ashes, Howden
Youths are continuing to congregate on The Ashes Playing Field on an evening, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays. Periodic complaints have been received from the Ashes Playing Field Trust that damage has been caused and empty drinks containers are regularly found in a morning. Members of the Trust are clearing this litter up so others can continue to enjoy the park safely.
Whilst calls have been minimal throughout April, Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers and Special Constables will continue to patrol the Ashes Playing Fields and anyone seen drinking will be tackled and alcohol will be seized. Anyone who fails to comply with an instruction to surrender alcohol is liable to be issued a fixed penalty notice or arrested for the offence. Letters will be sent to parents of youths found with alcohol in their possession and those who continue to offend will be liable to prosecution. There is unlikely to be any to be any discretion shown.
